Please note: Q Psych does not accept insurance toward payment of evaluations. Most evaluations consist of a clinical interview, testing, and feedback session to discuss results. 50% of the rate is due on the day of the clinical interview; the remaining balance is due at the time of the feedback session, when the report of findings is reviewed with the client.
A psychoeducational assessment is a type of evaluation that is conducted to assess a person’s cognitive, academic, and social-emotional functioning. The primary purpose is to identify any learning difficulties (e.g., dyslexia, dyscalculia, or ADHD) or performance issues that may be impacting an individual’s ability to learn and succeed in school, other educational settings, or in the workplace. The assessment may also be used to identify any strengths or areas of giftedness that an individual may have.
Other Common Uses for Psychoeducational Evaluations:
- Assess behavioral or emotional concerns affecting academic/occupational performance
- Examine issues with attention, concentration, processing speed, or memory
- Evaluate readiness for advanced placement programs (See Giftedness & School Admissions Testing)
- Inform educational interventions
- Determine eligibility for special education services or other educational accommodations (e.g., test-taking accommodations)
- Request accommodations in the workplace
- Identify strategies to help improve academic, socio-emotional, and/or occupational functioning
A psychoeducational evaluation at Q Psych begins with a detailed clinical interview (1 hour). The interview is followed by 4-6 hours of testing, using measures of cognitive, academic, socio-emotional, and executive functioning. Once complete, a feedback session is held to discuss the evaluation results and recommendations.
