ADHD Assessment

Coming Soon! August 2024

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that can cause significant difficulties with motivation, execution of tasks, and sustaining attention; it is also at times associated with impulsivity and hyperactivity, and can lead to impairment in functioning in social, educational, and occupational settings. However, symptoms associated with other psychological conditions (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders) can cause similar issues. The purpose of an ADHD evaluation is to differentiate between the symptoms of ADHD and other conditions; and to assess for the presence and severity of those symptoms.

An ADHD evaluation at Q Psych begins with a detailed clinical interview (1 hour). The interview is followed by approximately 3-4 hours of testing. Evaluations typically include an assessment of cognitive, executive, and social/emotional functioning; tests of attention; and a brief screening of academic skills when appropriate. Results of testing are used to determine whether the examinee meets diagnostic criteria for ADHD and to inform recommendations for addressing identified challenges.
